Pizza Hut delivery driver intentionally attempts to interrupt peaceful protest, endangering protest safety patrol

On Thursday evening, a St. Petersburg, FL Pizza Hut delivery driver attempted to drive his car through the protest march’s bike safety squad of “corkers.”

We are told this is being investigated for a possible hate crime, or possible drunk driving incident.

A witness sent us both picture and video, including the following statement:

“I was on my bike in the crosswalk in front of the westernmost lane of 3rd Street where it intersects Central Avenue. There were two de-escalation team members behind me, standing in front of a silver Honda Insight, license plate BCET50, with a pizza hut sign attached to the roof (photo attached). I heard the driver yell something about needing to make a delivery, and somebody on the de-escalation team responded (my back was to them at this point so I’m unsure what was said or who said it). I turned as I saw movement out of the corner of my eye, and I see the vehicle advancing towards our team. I get off my bike and drop it to the ground as the vehicle continues to advance and more of the de-escalation team starts to approach the scene. I pull out my phone to capture the attached image and see the vehicle strike [name removed]’s bicycle as the driver continues to advance towards team members who are trying to keep him from striking protesters. The vehicle then narrowly misses two of the vehicles following behind the march as he crosses Central Avenue and continues driving north on 3rd Street North.”
