In the wake of the flood of media surrounding the far-right group Proud Boys following Tuesday’s presidential debate, #ProudBoys is trending on Twitter today, but the tweets aren’t quite what you would imagine.

Gay men around the world have taken to Twitter to reclaim the hashtag that has recently been associated with the Proud Boys extremist group. The Anti-Defamation League categorizes the Proud Boys as an ideology rooted in “misogynistic, Islamophobic, transphobic and anti-immigration” beliefs, continuing to note that “some members espouse white supremacist and anti-Semitic ideologies and/or engage with white supremacist groups.”

This latest display of small, coordinated efforts on the Internet is reminiscent of recent efforts by K-Pop teens on TikTok trolling the Trump campaign with ticket reservations. We’ve included a few more epic examples of the #ProudBoys takeover below.
